Trouble Shooting

Prior to returning blades, inspect thoroughly and determine if any of the following apply. All of the conditions shown are not the responsibility of the manufacturer and therefore carry a net repair charge.

SEGMENT LOSS

CAUSE: Blade is burned due to insufficient water, usually evident by the dark blue streaks on the core beneath the segment, heat (burn) marks on the segments, or by extreme side pressure, i.e., machine arbor bent or operator neglect. Blade is improperly mounted.
SOLUTION: Discontinue use of blade and return for evaluation.

BLADE STOPPED, CUTTING-LIFE STILL REMAINS

CAUSE: The blade is too hard for the application or has been rotated in the wrong direction.

SOLUTION: The blade can be dressed on softer material, such as haydite block or other highly abrasive material. Contact dealer for evaluation.

CAUTION: Glazing will usually continue unless softer material is intermittently cut or a softer bonded blade is used.

VERTICAL HAIRLINE CRACKS APPEAR IN SEGMENTS

CAUSE: Normally, this indicates that the blade is too hard for the application or the RPM is too high. Blade is improperly mounted.

SOLUTION: A softer bond must be used if it is determined that this is the problem. This occurs most often in concrete cutting where much harder and more abrasive-resistant metal bonds are used.

VERTICAL HAIRLINE CRACKS APPEAR IN CORE

CAUSE: The bond may be too hard for application, or due to unforeseen circumstances the blade does not have proper tension for RPM required.

SOLUTION: Use a softer bond if it is determined that the bond is too hard. The customer must review all circumstances, i.e., RPM, machine, and material to be cut. Discontinue use of blade and return for evaluation.

HORIZONTAL HAIRLINE CRACKS APPEAR IN CORE

CAUSE: Blade does not have the proper tension for machine RPM and is wobbling, bond could be too hard, or machine problems, (bent arbor, machine not tracking parallel to blade, etc.).

SOLUTION: Discontinue use of blade and return for evaluation.

ARBOR HOLE OUT OF ROUND

CAUSE: The saw mandrel is scored or undersized, or the blade is not properly seated on the mandrel.

SOLUTION: Discontinue use of blade and return for evaluation.

UNDERCUTTING OF CORE BENEATH SEGMENT

CAUSE: The material is excessively abrasive.

SOLUTION: The blade should be removed prior to segment loss. If cutting is to be extensive in the same material and under the same conditions, then a special wear guard core should be recommended.

CORE DISHED – BLADE LOST TENSIONING

CAUSE: The bond may be too hard, RPM wrong for blade diameter, blade flanges are not parallel or other machine problems.

SOLUTION: Discontinue use of blade and return for evaluation.

MORE SEGMENT REMAINS ON ONE SIDE OF THE BLADE THAN ON THE OTHER

CAUSE: Insufficient water on worn side.

SOLUTION: Check water ports to ascertain if water is flowing freely on both sides of blade. Remember, water around the blade does not mean it is being properly utilized.
